IV INFUSION THERAPY
Personalized IV Hydration
& Wellness Support
Can include vitamin infusions, electrolyte combinations, and recovery drips.
Book Your ConsultationIV infusion therapy delivers fluids and selected nutrients directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous line. In a medical spa setting, IV therapy may be used to support hydration, replenish selected nutrients, and provide individualized wellness support based on a patient's health history, goals, and clinical assessment.
At Avail Aesthetics MD, IV therapy is medically supervised and personalized. We believe IV therapy should be treated as a medical service - not simply a wellness cocktail chosen from a menu.
Before treatment, patients are screened to determine whether IV therapy is appropriate and which ingredients, doses, and infusion protocol may be suitable.
What Is IV Infusion Therapy?
IV therapy administers fluids and selected ingredients directly into a vein.
Unlike oral supplements, which must first pass through the gastrointestinal tract, intravenous administration places ingredients directly into the circulation.
Depending on the formulation and individual patient needs, an IV infusion may contain:
IV fluids
Vitamins
Minerals
Amino acids
Antioxidants
Other physician-selected ingredients
The exact formulation should be based on the patient's medical history, medications, allergies, health considerations, and treatment goals.
Why Do People Choose IV Therapy?
Patients seek IV infusion therapy for many different reasons.
Depending on the formulation and clinical situation, IV therapy may be selected for:
Hydration support
Replenishment of selected vitamins or nutrients
Wellness support
Antioxidant support
Support during periods of increased physical demand
Selected nutritional needs
Incorporation into a broader physician-directed wellness program
IV therapy is not a substitute for adequate nutrition, hydration, sleep, exercise, or appropriate medical care.
NAD+ Cellular Support
Our IV Infusion Options
At Avail Aesthetics MD, IV formulations are selected to provide targeted options rather than an overwhelming menu of nearly identical infusions.
NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a naturally occurring coenzyme involved in numerous cellular processes, including cellular energy metabolism.
NAD+ levels and metabolism have become an area of significant interest in longevity and wellness research.
Our NAD+ infusion is designed for patients interested in incorporating NAD+ into a physician-directed wellness program.
Because NAD+ infusions can produce uncomfortable symptoms when administered too rapidly, infusion rate and patient tolerance are important considerations.
Patients may occasionally experience:
Nausea
Abdominal discomfort
Chest pressure or tightness
Headache
Flushing
Lightheadedness
General discomfort
Slowing or temporarily pausing the infusion may improve infusion-related symptoms.
NAD+ should not be represented as proven to reverse aging, cure disease, or guarantee increased energy or longevity.
Cellular Antioxidant Infusion
Our Cellular Antioxidant infusion is designed around selected nutrients involved in antioxidant and metabolic processes.
Depending on the individualized formulation, ingredients may include nutrients such as:
Vitamin C
Glutathione
B-complex vitamins
Selected additional nutrients when medically appropriate
Antioxidants participate in the body's normal systems for managing oxidative processes, while vitamins and micronutrients have numerous roles in normal cellular function.
The exact formulation and dosing are determined according to the treatment protocol and individual patient considerations.
Metabolic & Immune Support
Metabolic Performance Infusion
Our Metabolic Performance infusion is designed for patients seeking nutritional and hydration support as part of an active lifestyle and comprehensive wellness program.
Depending on the formulation, the infusion may incorporate fluids and selected vitamins, minerals, amino acids, or other nutrients.
IV therapy should complement - rather than replace - the fundamentals of metabolic health, including adequate protein intake, balanced nutrition, resistance exercise, cardiovascular activity, hydration, sleep, and appropriate medical management.
Advanced Immune Support Infusion
Our Advanced Immune Support infusion incorporates selected vitamins and nutrients involved in normal immune function.
It is important to distinguish supporting normal nutritional requirements from claiming that an IV infusion prevents or treats infections.
IV vitamin therapy is not a substitute for vaccination, medical evaluation, prescription treatment, or appropriate care for an acute illness.
Patients who are actively ill may require medical evaluation rather than a wellness infusion.
Understanding IV Infusion Therapy
What Is Glutathione?
Glutathione is a naturally occurring antioxidant produced by the body and is involved in cellular antioxidant systems and other normal metabolic processes.
Glutathione may be included in selected IV formulations or administered according to an individualized treatment protocol.
Although glutathione is frequently promoted online for numerous wellness and cosmetic purposes, the evidence supporting many of these claims varies. We avoid promising outcomes that have not been established.
What Is Vitamin C?
Vitamin C is an essential water-soluble vitamin involved in several normal physiologic processes, including collagen formation and antioxidant activity.
Vitamin C may be incorporated into selected IV formulations when appropriate.
Higher-dose IV vitamin C requires additional clinical consideration because it may not be appropriate for certain patients, including individuals with particular kidney conditions or other medical risk factors.
What Are B-Complex Vitamins?
B vitamins participate in many normal metabolic processes throughout the body.
Depending on the formulation, selected B vitamins may be incorporated into an IV infusion.
More is not necessarily better. Vitamin dosing should be selected appropriately rather than assuming that extremely high doses provide greater wellness benefits.
IV Therapy vs. Oral Vitamins
Both oral and intravenous supplementation have appropriate uses.
Oral Supplements
- Convenient for ongoing supplementation
- Usually less invasive
- Appropriate for many nutritional needs
- Absorption occurs through the gastrointestinal tract
- Often preferred when IV administration is unnecessary
IV Therapy
- Delivers ingredients directly into the circulation
- Allows controlled administration of fluids and selected nutrients
- May be useful when intravenous administration is clinically appropriate
- Requires venous access and medical screening
- Carries risks that oral supplementation does not
IV administration is not automatically superior simply because it bypasses the digestive system.
The appropriate route depends on the individual patient and clinical purpose.
What Happens During an IV Infusion?
1. Medical Screening
Before treatment, we review relevant information such as:
- Medical history
- Current medications
- Allergies
- Previous reactions to IV therapy
- Kidney or heart conditions
- Pregnancy status when relevant
- Current symptoms
- Treatment goals
Additional evaluation or laboratory testing may be recommended when clinically appropriate.
2. Personalized Infusion Selection
Your provider determines whether IV therapy is appropriate and selects the infusion formulation based on your individual needs and treatment protocol.
3. IV Placement
A small intravenous catheter is placed into a vein, usually in the arm or hand.
4. Infusion
The IV solution is administered gradually while you relax.
Depending on the formulation, infusion times can vary. Many treatments take approximately 45-60 minutes, while certain infusions - particularly NAD+ - may require slower administration based on patient tolerance.
5. Monitoring
Patients are monitored during treatment for comfort and potential infusion reactions.
What Does an IV Infusion Feel Like?
Most patients experience only a brief pinch when the IV catheter is inserted.
During the infusion, you should generally be comfortable.
Depending on the ingredients and infusion rate, some patients may experience temporary:
- Coolness in the arm
- Flushing
- Metallic or unusual taste
- Nausea
- Lightheadedness
- Headache
- Local discomfort
- Other ingredient-specific sensations
Tell your provider immediately if you experience unusual symptoms during treatment.
Is There Downtime?
Most patients can return to normal activities after an uncomplicated IV infusion.
Temporary effects may include:
- Minor bruising
- Tenderness at the IV site
- Mild fatigue
- Lightheadedness
- Temporary discomfort related to specific ingredients
Your provider may recommend additional precautions depending on the infusion you receive.
Who May Not Be a Candidate for IV Therapy?
IV therapy is not appropriate for everyone.
Additional evaluation or modification may be necessary for patients with certain:
- Kidney conditions
- Heart conditions
- Fluid restrictions
- Electrolyte abnormalities
- Medication interactions
- Allergies
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding considerations
- Acute illnesses
- Metabolic conditions
- Previous infusion reactions
This is why we screen patients rather than treating IV therapy as a one-size-fits-all service.
Is IV Therapy Safe?
IV therapy involves placing a catheter directly into a vein and administering substances intravenously. It therefore carries potential risks even when performed for wellness purposes.
Potential risks include:
- Pain or bruising at the IV site
- Bleeding
- Infiltration
- Phlebitis or vein irritation
- Infection
- Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions
- Dizziness or fainting
- Fluid overload
- Electrolyte abnormalities
- Medication or nutrient interactions
- Ingredient-specific adverse reactions
Rare but serious complications are possible.
Appropriate screening, sterile technique, proper dosing, infusion-rate management, and patient monitoring are important components of safe IV therapy.
IV Therapy Is Not a Cure-All
IV therapy has become increasingly popular in the wellness industry, but patients should be cautious of claims that an infusion can "detox" the body, reverse aging, instantly strengthen the immune system, cure a hangover, burn fat, or treat medical diseases.
At Avail Aesthetics MD, we take a more medically responsible approach.
We use IV therapy as one potential component of a comprehensive wellness plan, not as a replacement for evidence-based medical care or healthy lifestyle habits.
Why Choose Avail Aesthetics MD for IV Therapy?
At Avail Aesthetics MD, IV therapy is approached as a medical treatment requiring appropriate screening and individualized care.
Our approach focuses on:
- Physician-directed medical oversight
- Pre-treatment health screening
- Individualized infusion selection
- Appropriate ingredient and dose selection
- Sterile IV technique
- Patient monitoring during treatment
