Vitamin and Wellness Injections

Vitamin and wellness injections provide selected vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants, and other nutrients through intramuscular (IM) injection. For patients who do not need a full IV infusion, IM injections offer a convenient way to incorporate selected nutrients into a physician-directed wellness plan.

At Avail Aesthetics MD, vitamin injections are not treated as one-size-fits-all “energy shots.” Your health history, medications, allergies, nutritional needs, goals, and potential contraindications are considered before treatment.

Depending on your individual needs and the products available, our wellness injection options may include Vitamin B12, B-Complex, L-Carnitine, Glutathione, Tri-Immune, Vitamin D3, Amino Blend, NAD+, Biotin, Vitamin C, and Lipotropic/Lipoplex injections.

What Are IM Vitamin Injections?

An intramuscular injection delivers a selected ingredient directly into muscle tissue, where it is gradually absorbed into the circulation.

IM injections are typically administered into an appropriate muscle based on the medication or nutrient, volume being administered, and individual patient considerations.

Compared with an IV infusion, IM injections are generally:

  • Quick to administer
  • Convenient
  • Performed without placement of an IV catheter
  • Appropriate for selected vitamins and wellness ingredients
  • Easy to incorporate into an individualized wellness program

The fact that a nutrient can be administered by injection does not automatically mean that injectable administration is necessary or superior for every patient.

Vitamin B12 & B-Complex

Vitamin B12 & B-Complex

Our Vitamin & Wellness Injection Options

Vitamin B12 Injection

Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient involved in red blood cell formation, neurologic function, DNA synthesis, and normal cellular metabolism.

B12 injections may be particularly appropriate for patients with documented deficiency or individuals at increased risk for inadequate B12 absorption.

Risk factors for B12 deficiency can include certain gastrointestinal conditions, previous gastrointestinal surgery, dietary patterns, and medications that interfere with B12 absorption.

Although B12 is frequently marketed as an “energy shot,” it should not be assumed that B12 injections will increase energy in every person. Patients whose fatigue is caused by another medical condition may require additional evaluation.

B-Complex Injection

B vitamins participate in numerous metabolic processes throughout the body, including pathways involved in converting nutrients into usable cellular energy.

A B-complex injection contains a combination of selected B vitamins and may be incorporated into a wellness program when medically appropriate.

B vitamins are important nutrients, but more is not necessarily better. The formulation and frequency of treatment should be selected appropriately.

L-Carnitine & Lipotropic Injections

L-Carnitine & Lipotropic Injections

L-Carnitine Injection

L-carnitine is a naturally occurring compound involved in the transport of long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria, where they can be used in cellular energy metabolism.

L-carnitine has therefore become popular in metabolic, fitness, and wellness programs.

However, an L-carnitine injection should not be represented as a stand-alone fat-burning or weight-loss treatment.

For patients pursuing body-composition or weight-management goals, nutrition, adequate protein intake, resistance training, physical activity, sleep, and appropriate medical management remain essential.

Lipotropic / Lipoplex Injection

Lipotropic injections generally contain a combination of ingredients involved in normal metabolic pathways. Formulations vary considerably between products and pharmacies.

Depending on the specific formulation, a lipotropic injection may contain ingredients such as:

  • Methionine
  • Inositol
  • Choline
  • Selected B vitamins
  • Other nutrients

These injections are commonly incorporated into wellness and medical weight-management programs.

They should not be viewed as injections that independently “melt fat” or guarantee weight loss.

At Avail Aesthetics MD, wellness injections may complement a comprehensive program rather than replace the fundamentals of healthy weight management.

Glutathione, Tri-Immune & Vitamin D3

Glutathione, Tri-Immune & Vitamin D3

Glutathione Injection

Glutathione is a naturally occurring compound produced by the body and plays an important role in normal cellular antioxidant and metabolic processes.

Glutathione has become popular in aesthetic and wellness medicine because of its role in antioxidant systems.

However, many claims made online regarding injectable glutathione extend beyond established evidence. Treatment should be discussed in the context of realistic expectations and the specific route and formulation being used.

Tri-Immune Injection

Tri-Immune formulations typically combine selected nutrients associated with normal immune and antioxidant function.

The exact ingredients depend on the specific formulation used by the practice.

It is important to distinguish nutritional support from treatment of disease.

A wellness injection does not prevent or cure viral or bacterial infections and should not replace appropriate vaccination, medical evaluation, diagnostic testing, or treatment when a patient is ill.

Vitamin D3 Injection

Vitamin D plays an important role in bone health, calcium metabolism, muscle function, and normal immune function.

Vitamin D deficiency is common and can be identified through laboratory testing.

For selected patients, injectable vitamin D may be considered when medically appropriate.

Because vitamin D is fat-soluble and excessive amounts can accumulate in the body, dosing and frequency should be selected carefully. More frequent or higher dosing is not automatically better.

Amino Blend, NAD+, Biotin & Vitamin C

Amino Blend, NAD+, Biotin & Vitamin C

Amino Blend Injection

Amino acids are the building blocks used by the body to produce proteins and participate in numerous physiologic processes.

Selected amino-acid formulations may be incorporated into individualized wellness programs depending on the patient's nutritional status, health history, goals, and the specific formulation being used.

An amino-acid injection does not replace adequate dietary protein or balanced nutrition.

NAD+ Injection

NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a naturally occurring coenzyme involved in cellular metabolism and numerous biochemical reactions.

NAD+ has become an area of interest in wellness and longevity medicine.

Depending on the product and protocol, NAD+ may be administered by IM injection or through an IV infusion.

Research into NAD+ supplementation and its potential clinical applications continues to evolve. NAD+ should not be represented as proven to reverse aging, cure disease, or guarantee improvements in energy, cognition, or longevity.

Biotin Injection

Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, participates in normal metabolism and is commonly associated with hair, skin, and nail health.

Biotin deficiency can affect these tissues, but deficiency is relatively uncommon in otherwise healthy individuals.

Hair loss and brittle nails can have many causes, so biotin should not automatically be assumed to correct these concerns.

Importantly, supplemental biotin can interfere with certain laboratory tests. Patients should inform their healthcare providers and laboratories about biotin use before blood testing.

Vitamin C Injection

Vitamin C is an essential water-soluble vitamin involved in:

  • Collagen formation
  • Antioxidant activity
  • Normal immune function
  • Wound healing
  • Iron absorption

Injectable vitamin C may be incorporated into selected wellness protocols when appropriate.

Dose, route, medical history, kidney function, and other individual considerations may affect whether injectable vitamin C is appropriate.

IM Injections vs. IV Infusions

Both treatments can deliver selected nutrients, but they are different.

IM Vitamin & Wellness Injections

  • Usually completed within minutes
  • Do not require placement of an IV
  • Deliver a smaller volume into muscle tissue
  • Convenient for selected individual ingredients
  • Can be incorporated into scheduled wellness programs

IV Infusions

  • Require intravenous access
  • Deliver ingredients directly into the circulation
  • Can provide fluids in addition to selected nutrients
  • Allow administration of larger-volume formulations
  • Usually require more time and monitoring

One method is not automatically better than the other. The appropriate route depends on the ingredient, formulation, clinical purpose, and individual patient.

What Happens During Your Appointment?

1. Medical Screening

Before receiving an injection, we review relevant information such as:

  • Medical history
  • Current medications and supplements
  • Allergies
  • Pregnancy status when relevant
  • Kidney or liver conditions
  • Previous reactions
  • Current symptoms
  • Wellness goals

2. Injection Selection

The appropriate injection is selected based on your individual needs and the available treatment protocols.

3. Intramuscular Injection

The treatment area is cleaned and the injection is administered into an appropriate muscle.

The injection itself generally takes only a few moments.

4. Aftercare

Most patients can immediately return to normal daily activities.

How Often Can I Receive Vitamin Injections?

There is no single schedule appropriate for every vitamin or every patient.

Frequency depends on:

  • The specific ingredient
  • Dose
  • Reason for treatment
  • Nutritional status
  • Laboratory results when relevant
  • Medical history
  • Concurrent supplements
  • Individual response

Some injections may be administered periodically, while others should only be given when clinically appropriate.

Do I Need Laboratory Testing?

Not every wellness injection requires laboratory testing, but testing can be helpful or medically appropriate for selected nutrients and clinical situations.

For example, laboratory evaluation may help identify deficiencies or guide treatment involving nutrients such as vitamin B12 or vitamin D.

If symptoms such as persistent fatigue, weakness, unexplained hair loss, or other concerns are present, additional evaluation may be more appropriate than simply treating the symptom with a wellness injection.

Are Vitamin Injections Safe?

Vitamin and wellness injections are medical treatments and are not completely risk-free.

Potential side effects can include:

  • Injection-site discomfort
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Temporary soreness
  • Infection
  • Dizziness or fainting
  • Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions
  • Ingredient-specific adverse effects

Excessive or inappropriate dosing of certain vitamins and nutrients can also cause complications.

Appropriate screening, product selection, dosing, sterile technique, and administration are important.

Who May Not Be a Candidate?

Whether an injection is appropriate depends heavily on its ingredients.

Additional evaluation may be necessary for patients with certain:

  • Kidney conditions
  • Liver conditions
  • Cardiovascular conditions
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Allergies
  • Medication interactions
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding considerations
  • Nutritional abnormalities
  • Previous injection reactions

This is one reason we do not believe every patient should simply select an injection based on its name.

Vitamin Injections Are Part of the Bigger Picture

Wellness injections can be convenient, but they should not replace the fundamentals of health.

At Avail Aesthetics MD, we encourage patients to combine appropriate wellness treatments with:

  • Balanced nutrition
  • Adequate protein
  • Regular exercise
  • Resistance training
  • Proper hydration
  • Quality sleep
  • Appropriate vitamin and mineral intake
  • Preventive medical care
  • Evaluation of persistent symptoms when necessary

If an underlying medical condition is responsible for fatigue, hair loss, weakness, or another symptom, identifying that condition is more important than simply giving an injection.
