O-Shot and P-Shot Sexual Wellness

Sexual wellness is an important part of overall health and quality of life. Changes in sexual function can occur with aging, hormonal changes, pregnancy and childbirth, menopause, medications, medical conditions, stress, circulation, and other factors.

At Avail Aesthetics MD, sexual wellness is approached as a medical and highly individualized concern. Rather than assuming every patient needs the same procedure, we begin by discussing your symptoms, health history, medications, goals, and potential contributing factors.

For appropriately selected adult patients, our sexual wellness services may include PRP-based O-Shot and P-Shot procedures as part of an individualized treatment plan.

O-Shot

PRP-Based Intimate Wellness for Women

The O-Shot is a regenerative sexual wellness procedure that uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) prepared from the patient's own blood.

PRP contains a concentrated amount of the patient's own platelets and naturally occurring growth factors and signaling proteins involved in normal tissue healing and repair processes.

The prepared PRP is administered to selected areas of intimate tissue using a specialized injection technique.

O-Shot for Women

O-Shot for Women

Why Do Women Consider the O-Shot?

Women may seek consultation because of concerns such as:

  • Changes in sexual sensation
  • Changes in arousal
  • Difficulty achieving orgasm
  • Changes following pregnancy or childbirth
  • Age-related intimate changes
  • Menopausal changes
  • Vaginal or vulvar tissue changes
  • Selected urinary concerns
  • Desire for improved overall intimate wellness

These symptoms can have many possible causes. An O-Shot is not automatically the appropriate treatment for every patient, which is why medical evaluation is important.

How Does the O-Shot Work?

The procedure begins with a small blood draw.

The blood is processed to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich portion. The resulting PRP is then administered into selected areas of intimate tissue.

PRP is used in many areas of regenerative and aesthetic medicine because platelets contain naturally occurring signaling proteins involved in the body's healing response.

Research regarding PRP specifically for female sexual wellness continues to evolve, and individual outcomes vary.

O-Shot Treatment Process

What Happens During an O-Shot Treatment?

1. Private Consultation

We discuss your concerns, medical history, medications, previous treatments, hormonal factors, and sexual wellness goals in a confidential medical setting.

2. Blood Collection & PRP Preparation

A small amount of your blood is drawn and processed to prepare platelet-rich plasma.

3. Comfort Measures

A topical or local anesthetic may be used to improve comfort.

4. PRP Administration

The prepared PRP is carefully administered to selected treatment areas according to the individualized procedure plan.

5. Aftercare

Most patients can return to normal daily activities relatively quickly. Individualized aftercare instructions are provided.

When Will I Notice O-Shot Results?

There is no universal timeline.

Some patients report changes after treatment, while others may notice gradual changes over the following weeks or months. Some patients may experience little or no meaningful improvement.

Because sexual function is influenced by many physical, hormonal, psychological, medication-related, and relationship factors, results cannot be guaranteed.

P-Shot for Men

P-Shot

PRP-Based Sexual Wellness for Men

The P-Shot is a PRP-based procedure marketed for male sexual wellness.

Like the O-Shot, it uses platelet-rich plasma prepared from the patient's own blood. The PRP is then administered to selected penile tissue according to the treatment protocol.

Why Do Men Consider the P-Shot?

Men may seek consultation because of concerns related to:

  • Changes in erectile quality
  • Changes in sexual performance
  • Changes in sensitivity
  • Age-related sexual changes
  • Circulatory or vascular concerns
  • Recovery following certain medical conditions or procedures
  • Desire for overall sexual wellness support

Erectile and sexual concerns can sometimes be an early sign of an underlying medical condition. For that reason, treatment should not begin by simply assuming that PRP is the solution.

Erectile Changes Deserve Medical Evaluation

Erectile dysfunction can be associated with conditions such as:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Hormonal abnormalities
  • Neurologic conditions
  • Medication side effects
  • Tobacco use
  • Psychological factors
  • Sleep disorders
  • Other medical conditions

When appropriate, we may recommend additional medical evaluation rather than simply performing a sexual wellness procedure.

How Does the P-Shot Work?

A small amount of the patient's blood is collected and processed to prepare platelet-rich plasma.

After appropriate comfort measures, the PRP is administered to selected treatment areas.

PRP contains platelets and naturally occurring signaling proteins involved in normal healing processes. Its use for male sexual wellness is an evolving area of regenerative medicine.

P-Shot Treatment & Results

What Happens During a P-Shot Treatment?

1. Medical & Sexual Wellness Consultation

We review your symptoms, medical history, medications, cardiovascular risk factors, previous treatments, and goals.

2. Blood Draw

A small blood sample is collected.

3. PRP Preparation

The sample is processed to isolate and concentrate the platelet-rich portion.

4. Comfort Measures

Topical and/or local anesthetic may be used to make treatment more comfortable.

5. PRP Administration

The prepared PRP is administered to selected treatment areas according to the individualized treatment protocol.

6. Aftercare

You will receive specific instructions regarding activity and post-procedure care.

When Will I Notice P-Shot Results?

Response varies considerably.

Some patients report changes over the weeks following treatment, while others may experience minimal or no meaningful improvement.

PRP should not be represented as a guaranteed treatment for erectile dysfunction, penile enlargement, or sexual performance.

Patients with persistent erectile dysfunction may require additional evaluation and evidence-based medical treatment.

O-Shot vs. P-Shot

Although both procedures use PRP, they are designed for different anatomy and sexual wellness concerns.

O-Shot

Designed for selected female sexual wellness concerns and uses PRP administered to specific intimate tissues.

P-Shot

Designed for selected male sexual wellness concerns and uses PRP administered to specific penile tissues.

Both procedures begin with an individualized medical assessment and use PRP prepared from the patient's own blood.

What Is PRP?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma.

A small amount of your own blood is collected and processed to concentrate platelets within a portion of the plasma.

Platelets are best known for their role in blood clotting, but they also contain signaling proteins involved in normal healing processes.

Because the PRP is prepared from your own blood, it is an autologous treatment.

PRP is used across several areas of medicine and aesthetics. However, the use of PRP for many sexual wellness indications is not specifically FDA-approved, and research into these applications remains limited and evolving.

Are the O-Shot and P-Shot FDA-Approved?

The O-Shot and P-Shot are not FDA-approved treatments for sexual dysfunction.

PRP preparation systems and medical devices may have their own FDA regulatory status, but that should not be confused with FDA approval of PRP for a particular sexual wellness indication.

We believe patients should understand this distinction before choosing treatment.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

There is no established treatment schedule that is appropriate for every patient.

Recommendations depend on:

  • Your symptoms
  • Medical history
  • Previous treatments
  • Individual response
  • Treatment goals
  • Provider assessment

Because evidence continues to evolve, we avoid promising that a specific number of procedures will produce a particular result.

Is There Downtime?

Downtime is generally limited, but temporary effects may occur.

These can include:

  • Tenderness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Minor bleeding
  • Temporary sensitivity
  • Temporary changes in sensation
  • Discomfort at injection sites

Your provider will give you specific instructions regarding sexual activity, exercise, bathing, and other activities after treatment.

Are PRP Sexual Wellness Procedures Safe?

O-Shot and P-Shot procedures involve blood collection and injections into sensitive anatomy and are not risk-free.

Potential risks may include:

  • Pain
  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Temporary numbness or altered sensation
  • Tissue injury
  • Unsatisfactory results
  • Other injection-related complications

Using your own PRP reduces concerns associated with introducing donor tissue, but it does not eliminate procedural risks.

Who May Not Be a Candidate?

PRP sexual wellness procedures may not be appropriate for everyone.

Additional evaluation may be necessary for patients with certain:

  • Active infections
  • Blood or platelet disorders
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Anticoagulant medications
  • Significant uncontrolled medical conditions
  • Active genital or urinary conditions
  • Pregnancy-related considerations
  • Certain cancers or other medical conditions

Candidacy is determined individually.

Sexual Wellness Is More Than One Procedure

Sexual function is complex.

Depending on the individual, a comprehensive treatment plan may involve evaluation of:

  • Hormonal health
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Metabolic health
  • Medications
  • Pelvic-floor function
  • Menopause or age-related changes
  • Vaginal or vulvar health
  • Erectile function
  • Sleep
  • Stress
  • Lifestyle factors
  • Other underlying medical conditions

An injection cannot address every possible cause of sexual dysfunction.

Our goal is to help determine why the change may be occurring and which treatment options make sense for you.
